Originally, I didn’t want to implement a rating system for reviews here on The Nintendosphere. However, I’ve since realized the importance of applying review scores to games – they give the reader an idea of how much the pros and cons weigh in the final opinion of the reviewer. Thus, The Nintendosphere runs on a 5-star system (as opposed to the 100-point system found on my MyIGN blog). Below is the official ratings guide for reviews on Nintendosphere.
★★★★★ – A game so good it’s hard to imagine it being any better.
★★★★☆ – A game that has a few flaws but nothing to hold it back from a general recommendation.
★★★☆☆ – A game that may not appeal to everyone but is still somewhat enjoyable.
★★☆☆☆ – A game that has its merits but is difficult to recommend to most people.
★☆☆☆☆ – A game with so many flaws it’s almost impossible to recommend it to anyone.
Scores with half a star (denoted by ½) represent a score that falls between two of the above categories.
Please note that all scores are holistic and do not take into account merely the individual elements of the game (like graphics, sound, gameplay) but rather the overall feel of the entire package offered. A review is the opinion of one reviewer and is not meant to represent the opinions of everyone else, including the reader.
